◆ Payments help
Connect Square to VenueFuze
Square fits best when you already use it at vendor booths or in- person POS. This guide walks you through creating an application in the Square Developer dashboard and grabbing the three values VenueFuze needs.
You'll need: a Square account (free — squareup.com/signup) and admin access.
Open the Square Developer dashboard
Go to developer.squareup.com/apps and sign in with the same email you use for Square POS.
The toggle at the top of the page flips between Sandbox and Production. Start in Sandbox while you're testing.
Create an application
Click + Create app. Name it something like "VenueFuze events". Accept the terms and click Save.
Copy the Application ID
Open your new app from the list. On the Credentials tab, copy the Application ID — it starts with
sq0idp-. Paste it into the VenueFuze Application ID field.Reveal + copy the Access Token
On the same Credentials tab, click Show next to Access Token. Copy the token and paste it into the VenueFuze Access token field.
The access token is sensitive — never share it outside the VenueFuze payments page. To rotate it, click Replace in Square.
(Recommended) Set up the webhook
Webhooks let Square tell VenueFuze when a payment completes or refunds. Without one, the dashboard might lag a few minutes behind Square.
- In your Square app, click the Webhook subscriptions tab, then Add subscription.
- URL:
https://venuefuze.com/api/square/webhook - Event types: pick payment.created, payment.updated, and refund.updated.
- Click Save. Square will reveal a Signature key. Copy it and paste into the VenueFuze Webhook signature key field.
Save in VenueFuze
Back in VenueFuze, pick the correct Mode (Sandbox = test, Production = real money) matching the keys you copied, then click Save Square keys.
Square adapter is in Phase 2.
Your saved credentials are encrypted at rest. VenueFuze will activate Square checkout + vendor POS flows once the adapter ships — saving your keys now is safe.
